“We want the building to be furry”

BARK Workplace Consulting

ROLE: Workplace Strategist / Consultant

PROGRAM: Conceptual Design / Space Strategy

AREA: 20,000 SF

LOCATION: Columbus, OH

Recently listed as one of the “World's 10 Most Beautiful Offices of 2019” by Inc. Bark’s Columbus office was a long time in the works, far before NBBJ started the (fantastic) interior architecture. A long-time client, Bark had sought to develop strategies for maintaining their quirky culture as they rapidly scaled in NYC. This design thinking and strategy spanned wide- from researching how to clad their headquarter building in fur, to developing the concept for BarkPark, to speculating on whether we could install indoor “grass potties” for their furry colleagues- Bark’s thinking when it came to workplace design is anything but ordinary

When the Columbus office came up as a project, we spent time developing the conceptual fit-plan, while helping leadership maintain their vision of a dog-inclusive workspace.
